Pakistan red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie is standing by Test captain Shan Masood, even after the men in green suffered an embarrassing 2-0 loss to Bangladesh.
Both Tests were played in Rawalpindi and everyone expected Pakistan to dominate as they were playing on home soil.
However, Bangladesh completely outplayed Masood’s side and secured their first-ever Test series win over Pakistan.
Even though Masood only managed to score 105 runs at an average of 26.25, Gillespie insisted that he has “led the side very well”, suggesting that he doesn’t want to see the 34-year-old replaced as Test skipper.
“Shan I feel has led the side very well. We just haven’t played well as a team and that’s the reality,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Masood’s next assignment as captain will be Pakistan’s three-Test series against England, which is set to take place from October 7 to 28.
