Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad has applauded fast bowlers Mir Hamza and Khurram Shahzad for making the most of their opportunities and performing well with the ball.

He noted that both players “toiled hard in domestic cricket” and had to wait a long time before finally getting the chance they deserved.

Hamza and Shahzad were both involved in Pakistan’s recent two-Test series against Bangladesh, with the former taking three wickets in one match at an average of 32.

As for Shahzad, he finished as Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker with nine wickets at an average of 24.44.

“These youngsters (Mir Hamza and Khurram Shahzad) who had toiled hard in domestic cricket and hadn’t come from Mohenjo-daro, had been waiting for their chances for a long time and today they got an opportunity because some senior bowler was missing and they both delivered for you,” Shehzad said in a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

Pakistan ended up losing 2-0 to Bangladesh and will now face England in a three-match Test series from October 7 to 28.
