Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad has blasted limited overs captain Babar Azam, saying he hasn’t shared his vision of how he will take the team forward over the past five years.
He also slammed the 29-year-old for not grooming any cricketers who can be the future of Pakistan cricket and subsequently questioned what kind of legacy Azam is creating.
Shehzad’s remarks come at a time when Azam’s future as white-ball skipper remains shrouded in mystery, especially after the men in green’s dismal performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they were knocked out in the group stage.
“In the past 5 years, I have not seen any vision from you; you have not prepared a player for Pakistan. For example, if you leave the team, what team are you leaving behind?” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion.
Azam is currently featuring in Pakistan’s two-match Test series against Bangladesh and made scores of 0 and 22 in the first Test, which his side lost by 10 wickets.
The Lahore native will be hoping to put up a better performance in the ongoing second Test, which began on August 30 in Rawalpindi.
