Former Pakistan pace bowler Tanvir Ahmed believes opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq could be dropped from the ODI team in the near future.
His comments come after Imam was axed from the Test squad for the ongoing two-Test series against Bangladesh.
Providing his two cents on why the 28-year-old was dropped from the Test side, Tanvir feels it could be due to the “mistakes” Imam has made.
It should be noted that Imam averages 48.27 in ODIs, but Tanvir stands by his prediction that the Lahore-born batsman could lose his spot.
“Imam-ul-Haq has been dropped from the Test squad due to his mistakes. I feel that Imam-ul-Haq might also be dropped from the ODI squad,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter, as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Imam was not part of Pakistan’s team for the recent 2024 T20 World Cup, where the men in green failed to make it out of the group stage.
Pakistan are currently 1-0 down in their Test series against Bangladesh after losing the first Test by 10 wickets.
They will look to rebound in the second Test, which starts on August 30 in Rawalpindi.
