Basit Ali: “Babar Azam has made the last century against Nepal in the Asia Cup. It is a great chance for him to prove himself. To come back in the Test Rankings. And he is not the captain. It is a very good thing”

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has urged star batsman Babar Azam to prove himself once again in the two-Test series against Bangladesh.
Azam has not made a century in international cricket since August 2023, while his last Test hundred came back in December 2022.
Since the 29-year-old is no longer Pakistan’s Test captain, Basit wants him to play with full freedom and concentrate solely on scoring runs.
“Babar Azam has made the last century against Nepal in the Asia Cup. It is a great chance for him to prove himself. To come back in the Test Rankings. And he is not the captain. It is a very good thing,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam recently featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he amassed 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
Pakistan’s two-match Test series against Bangladesh will take place in Rawalpindi and Karachi from August 21 to September 3.
