Shahid Afridi: “I’ve stopped speaking because my comments about Shaheen often lead to negativity. I don’t praise him much and usually end up scolding him, which creates a negative image”

Legendary Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi said he has stopped talking about left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi as his comments regularly get turned into negativity.
Shaheen is Shahid’s son-in-law and is Pakistan’s pace spearhead in all three formats.
The 24-year-old was recently in action in the 2024 T20 World Cup and took five wickets in four games at an average of 21 and an economy rate of 6.56.
Even when giving Shaheen constructive criticism, Shahid noted that people often think he is doing nothing but criticising the talented fast bowler. Due to this, he has refrained from making public comments about Shaheen anymore.
“I’ve stopped speaking because my comments about Shaheen often lead to negativity. I don’t praise him much and usually end up scolding him, which creates a negative image,” Shahid was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India before bouncing back to defeat Canada and Ireland.
However, those two wins went in vain as the men in green were eliminated in the group stage of the competition.
Next up for Pakistan will be a two-match Test series against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi and Karachi from August 21 to September 3.
