Sarfraz Nawaz: “Rizwan has proved his captaincy credentials by helping KPK (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) win all domestic events in the past while his performance as Multan Sultans’ captain has been consistent over the years. He is the best choice for the job”

Former fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz believes wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan should replace Babar Azam as Pakistan’s limited overs captain.
Azam’s future as skipper remains shrouded in mystery following the 2024 T20 World Cup, where the men in green were eliminated in the group stage.
Sarfraz thinks Rizwan is the best candidate to succeed the 29-year-old as he has won many domestic competitions as captain, including with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
“Rizwan has proved his captaincy credentials by helping KPK (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) win all domestic events in the past while his performance as Multan Sultans’ captain has been consistent over the years. He is the best choice for the job,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Rizwan recently played in the T20 World Cup, where he amassed 110 runs in four matches, which included a top score of 53 not out, at an average of 36.66 and a strike-rate of 90.90.
As for Azam, he made 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
Pakistan started their campaign with consecutive losses to the United States of America and India before claiming consolation wins over Canada and Ireland.
