Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq has told batsman Ahmed Shehzad that he might not think limited overs captain Babar Azam is the king, but the world sure does.
Azam has been Pakistan’s most consistent run-scorer in all three formats and has often carried the team to victory single-handedly.
However, Shehzad believes that the 29-year-old is a “fake king”, which is something Imam took exception to as he doesn’t believe it is true.
“The world has made him the king, you haven’t,” Imam was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam recently led Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and made 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
The men in green lost to the United States of America and India before rebounding to beat Canada and Ireland.
Even though they won their last two group stage games, it wasn’t enough to book their spot in the Super Eights.
