Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik said limited overs captain Babar Azam wouldn’t get into Nepal’s T20I team due to the way he bats.

Malik added that the 29-year-old doesn’t score runs quick enough, which means he wouldn’t have a place in the playing XI if he were trying to get into India, Australia or England’s T20I sides.

Azam has been repeatedly criticised for his low strike-rate as many former players believe it is putting too much pressure on the middle order.

“Babar Azam can’t [fit] in any top international side like India, Australia, England etc. He further said even Nepal will not pick him in their team,” Malik was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Azam recently captained Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and finished as the team’s highest run-scorer with 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.

The men in green lost to the United States of America and India before bouncing back to take down Canada and Ireland.

Despite winning their last two group stage games, Pakistan were unable to progress to the Super Eights.
