Rashid Latif: “Mohammad Wasim was a good chief selector, I liked his work but we always had some discussions about a few players, namely Shan Masood, Imad Wasim and Haider Ali”

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has confirmed that he and ex-chief selector Mohammad Wasim had different views on Pakistan spinner Imad Wasim, and batsmen Shan Masood and Haider Ali.
Latif noted that he and Wasim engaged in many discussions about the trio, but insisted that there was always an element of respect.
Additionally, the former wicketkeeper-batsman pointed out that he only spoke to Wasim about these players once the team was selected as he didn’t want to influence any selection decisions that were made.
“Mohammad Wasim was a good chief selector, I liked his work but we always had some discussions about a few players, namely Shan Masood, Imad Wasim and Haider Ali. He used to listen to me as well because of the respect element and I always discussed with him after he had announced the squad, so that he doesn’t get confused while selecting,” he told ProSports as quoted by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Out of the three players Latif and Wasim talked about, only Imad featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he took three wickets in three matches at an average of 14.66 and an economy rate of four.
Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India before bouncing back to take down Canada and Ireland.
Despite winning their last two group stage games, the men in green were unable to make it through to the Super Eights.
