Inzamam-ul-Haq: “This is certainly not the way a team should be selected. From No. 1 to No. 5 all are openers! It is shameful that we cannot find middle order batters in all of Pakistan”

Legendary Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq said “it is shameful” that the men in green “cannot find middle order batters”.
The middle order has been a thorn in Pakistan’s side for quite some time now and despite trying out numerous players, they have yet to find any cricketers who have truly cemented their spot in the side.
Currently, the middle order consists of players like Fakhar Zaman, Usman Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan and Imad Wasim, but it remains to be seen if they keep hold of their places, especially after failing to live up to expectations with the bat in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Inzamam pointed out that limited overs captain Babar Azam and the national selectors need to reassess their selection criteria as all their batsmen from numbers one to five are openers.
“This is certainly not the way a team should be selected. From No. 1 to No. 5 all are openers! It is shameful that we cannot find middle order batters in all of Pakistan,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
In the T20 World Cup, Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India before rebounding to beat Canada and Ireland.
Despite ending the group stage on a high, the men in green failed to make it through to the Super Eights.
