Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja said it is time to think about batsman Usman Khan as questions remain about his technique.
Usman switched allegiance from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Pakistan, but ever since being called up to the national team earlier this year, he hasn’t been able to have much of an impact.
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, the 29-year-old from Karachi only managed to muster 20 runs in four matches at an average of 6.66 and a strike-rate of 90.90.
Ramiz noted that the team management need to “determine if his technique is good enough to play” on pitches “where the ball bounces unexpectedly”.
“We also have to think about Usman Khan. How is his temperament? Usually, he looks fine temperamentally but in terms of technique, on this pitch where the ball bounces unexpectedly, we need to determine if his technique is good enough to play on such a pitch,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Geo Super.
Pakistan lost their first two T20 World Cup games against the United States of America and India before claiming back-to-back wins over Canada and Ireland.
Despite this, it was not enough to earn the men in green a spot in the Super Eights.
