Former Pakistan team director Mohammad Hafeez has lashed out at wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan, saying he didn’t manage to lose any weight in six weeks.
Hafeez noted that whenever a training programme is held, the 25-year-old remains at the same weight, while his “fat levels are the same” too.
Azam has repeatedly been criticised for his fitness, with many former players believing he shouldn’t be part of the team.
“When Azam Khan joins a training programme, he’s the same weight 6 weeks later that he started with. His fat levels are the same,” Hafeez was quoted as saying by respected journalist Saj Sadiq on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam recently featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup and was dismissed for a golden duck in Pakistan’s opening game against the United States of America, which was the only match he played.
The men in green lost to the United States of America and India before fighting back to take down Canada and Ireland.
However, their victories went in vain as they were eliminated in the group stage of the tournament.
