Pakistan assistant coach Azhar Mahmood has made it clear that there is no bad blood between limited overs captain Babar Azam and pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi.

He denied rumours of a rift between them, saying they “are definitely talking” and “are good friends”.

“Shaheen and Babar are definitely talking, they are good friends. They are both part of the Pakistan team,” Mahmood was quoted as saying by Cricwick.

Azam and Afridi were recently in action in the 2024 T20 World Cup, with the former scoring 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.

As for Afridi, he finished with five wickets in four games at an average of 21 and an economy rate of 6.56.

Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India before claiming successive wins over Canada and Ireland.

Despite this, they were eliminated in the group stage of the tournament.
