Mohammad Amir: “No one doubts the abilities of Shadab and Azam. They can win a one-sided match on their day. They both need one good match to get back in form”

Pakistan left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir has made it clear that “no one doubts the abilities” of spinner Shadab Khan and wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan.
Shadab has not been able to take any wickets since Pakistan’s T20I series against New Zealand in April 2024, while Azam has struggled to score runs consistently.
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Shadab went wicketless in four games and didn’t even bowl in Pakistan’s matches against India and Canada.
As for Azam, he only featured in the opening match against the United States of America, but was trapped lbw for a golden duck.
Even though both players have been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism lately, Amir knows how brilliant they are and is confident they “need one good match to get back in form”.
“No one doubts the abilities of Shadab and Azam. They can win a one-sided match on their day. They both need one good match to get back in form,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India before winning their next two T20 World Cup games against Canada and Ireland.
Despite this, the men in green were eliminated in the group stage of the competition.
