Legendary left-arm seamer Wasim Akram believes it may be time to “get rid of this lot” of Pakistan players and “bring in” other cricketers to replace them.
His comments come after the men in green were abysmal in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they lost to the United States of America and India before claiming successive wins over Canada and Ireland.
Despite finishing the group stage with a 2-2 record, it was not enough to see them through to the Super Eights.
Wasim feels the current players in the team have gotten too comfortable and have the mindset that “they can’t be replaced”.
However, the Sultan of Swing admitted that it might be time to take drastic action as the team’s results are “getting embarrassing now”.
“These players have taken Pakistan cricket for granted. I want to support this team, but it’s getting embarrassing now. We need to get rid of this lot and bring in new players. They think they can’t be replaced,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.
