Pakistan batsman Fawad Alam firmly believes that left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir is still the country’s best bowler.

Earlier in 2024, Amir reversed his decision to retire from international cricket and has since played in multiple T20I series for Pakistan, including against New Zealand, Ireland and England.

The 32-year-old also featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he took seven wickets in four matches at an average of 10.28 and an economy rate of 4.50.

Even though Fawad thinks Amir is “not the same bowler as he was four years back”, he still rates him higher than the pace trio of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf.

“He is not the same bowler as he was four years back. He has been playing cricket in different leagues and is still Pakistan’s best and most experienced bowler,” he told the Press Trust of India (PTI) as quoted by Geo Super.

Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India in the T20 World Cup before fighting back to triumph over Canada and Ireland.

However, their two wins went in vain as they ended up being eliminated in the group stage of the competition.

Pakistan Squad for 2024 T20 World Cup: Babar Azam (capt), Saim Ayub, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Fakhar Zaman, Azam Khan (wk), Usman Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Amir, Abbas Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Abrar Ahmed
