Pakistan batsman Fawad Alam has praised left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir, saying he uses batsmen’s weaknesses to his advantage.

Amir has been in excellent form lately and put his bowling skills on show during the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he played for the Quetta Gladiators and picked up 13 wickets in nine matches at an average of 18.07 and an economy rate of 7.79.

Fawad noted that the 33-year-old’s ability to identify the flaws of opposition batsmen is what makes him such a smart bowler.

“When a batter knows he’s up against a smart bowler, he’s aware that the bowler understands his weaknesses. And Amir makes full use of a batter’s shortcomings,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.

Since Amir has retired from international cricket, he was not selected for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore, the T20I tour of Bangladesh, and the limited overs tour of the West Indies.

The men in green are now taking on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan in a T20I tri-series in Sharjah, which will end on September 7.

After that, Pakistan will be involved in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be played in the UAE from September 9 to 28.

Pakistan squad for UAE T20I tri-series and 2025 Asia Cup: Salman Ali Agha (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wicketkeeper), Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sufiyan Muqeem
