Ramiz Raja: “If you have to bench Shadab, do it”

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has advised limited overs captain Babar Azam and the team management to not be afraid of benching first-choice spinner Shadab Khan.
Shadab hasn’t been anywhere near his best over the past couple of months as he has failed to take wickets and leaked too many runs when bowling.
Even though the 25-year-old is a main player in the side, Ramiz pointed out that Pakistan need to make the right decision and move him to the sidelines if he continues to perform poorly.
“If you have to bench Shadab, do it,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Shadab went wicketless in the four games he played. In fact, he didn’t even bowl in Pakistan’s matches against India and Canada.
The men in green lost to the United States of America and India before triumphing over Canada and Ireland.
Even though they won their last two games, they ended up being eliminated in the group stage of the tournament.
