Pakistan white-ball captain Babar Azam has made it clear that he is not thinking about playing international cricket until he is 40 years old right now.

Azam, 29, is widely considered to be one of the best batsmen in all three formats as he regularly scores runs and has repeatedly led the men in green to victory on his own.

While he still has plenty of years left in his career, the Lahore-born cricketer insisted that he is happy to take things “day by day” for the time being instead of pinpointing a particular age at which he wants to retire.

“Honestly, I am just thinking day by day. I am not thinking about at what age I am going to stop playing. Right now, I am just enjoying my game and love playing cricket,” he said on legendary South Africa batsman AB de Villiers’ YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

In the ongoing T20 World Cup, Azam has amassed 90 runs in three games at an average of 30 and a strike-rate of 104.65.

Pakistan lost their first two matches against the United States of America and India before beating Canada by seven wickets.

However, they will be eliminated in the group stage and will play their final game against Ireland on June 16 in Lauderhill.
