Kamran Akmal: “Play the deserving ones, tell me why Abrar [Ahmed] still isn’t playing?”

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal admitted he is unsure why mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed hasn’t been given a chance to play for the national team lately.
Abrar made his T20I debut in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand in April 2024 and took two wickets in three games at an average of 23 and an economy rate of 5.75.
Despite an encouraging start against the Black Caps, the 25-year-old didn’t play in the three-match T20I series against Ireland or the four-match T20I series against England.
Furthermore, he hasn’t featured in the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup, where the men in green lost their first two matches against the United States of America and India before bouncing back to beat Canada by seven wickets.
For Akmal, Abrar’s non-inclusion in the playing XI doesn’t make sense, especially since first-choice spinner Shadab Khan hasn’t been taking wickets and didn’t even bowl in the games against India and Canada.

Pakistan’s next T20 World Cup match will be against Ireland on June 16 in Lauderhill.
