Pakistan limited overs captain Babar Azam considers it “an honour” whenever people compare him to India batting maestro Virat Kohli.

The pair have constantly been compared since they are the batting spearheads of their respective teams.

Azam branded Kohli as “one of the best players [in] the world” and confirmed that they “discuss about cricket whenever we meet”.

“This feels [like] an honour to be compared with one of the best players [in] the world. I do question Virat and we discuss about cricket whenever we meet,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Azam recently led Pakistan in their five-match T20I series against New Zealand and finished with 125 runs, which included a top score of 69, at an average of 31.25 and a strike-rate of 138.88.

He then took part in the three-match T20I series against Ireland and struck 132 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 44 and a strike-rate of 148.31.

As for the four-match T20I series against England, the 29-year-old accumulated 68 runs at an average of 34 and a strike-rate of 141.66.

In the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup, Azam has made scores of 44 and 13 against the United States of America and India respectively.

Pakistan lost both those matches and now find themselves on the verge of elimination going into their must-win game against Canada in New York on June 11.
