AB de Villiers: “I love talking about Babar Azam because I believe he’s one of the best players we’ve ever seen play this game, not just now”

AB de Villiers, the South Africa legend, said he loves talking about Babar Azam as he believes the Pakistan captain is “one of the best players we’ve ever seen”.
He noted that Azam is not just one of the top batsmen in the world today, but among the greatest to ever play the game.
The Lahore-born cricketer has cemented his reputation by regularly scoring runs in all three formats and through his many match-winning knocks.
“I love talking about Babar Azam because I believe he’s one of the best players we’ve ever seen play this game, not just now,” De Villiers said in a video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam recently captained Pakistan in their five-match T20I series against New Zealand and amassed 125 runs, which included a top score of 69, at an average of 31.25 and a strike-rate of 138.88.
He was then involved in a three-match T20I series against Ireland and accumulated 132 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 44 and a strike-rate of 148.31.
Pakistan are now facing England in a four-match T20I series and find themselves 1-0 down after losing the second game by 23 runs.
After this, they will be in action in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will take place in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
