Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif said Sarfaraz Ahmed brought out the best in left-arm spinner Imad Wasim when he was captaining the national team.

Imad recently reversed his decision to retire from international cricket and is currently playing under the captaincy of Babar Azam.

In the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, the 35-year-old took one wicket in two games at an average of 37 and an economy rate of 7.40.

He followed that up with two wickets in three T20Is against Ireland at an average of 36 and an economy rate of 7.20.

“Sarfaraz Ahmed under his captaincy utilised Imad Wasim at his best,” Latif was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Pakistan are now playing a four-match T20I series against England and trail 1-0 after losing the second game by 23 runs.

After this, they will be in action in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will take place in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.

Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
