Pakistan captain Babar Azam has revealed that left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir has the most fans out of anyone in the national team.
Most people would expect it to be Azam since he leads the side and is the star batsman.
However, Azam didn’t name himself, pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi or wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, even though they all have plenty of die-hard supporters.
“Mohammad Amir,” Azam was quoted as saying Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Amir recently made his international comeback in Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand, where he took three wickets in four games at an average of 28.66 and an economy rate of 8.32.
He followed it up with two wickets in two T20Is against Ireland at an average of 38 and an economy rate of 9.50.
Pakistan are now facing England in a four-match T20I series and are 1-0 down after losing the second game by 23 runs.
After this, they will feature in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will take place in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
