Pakistan top order batsman Ahmed Shehzad wants mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed to be given more game time as the other bowlers “have looked flat”.
Abrar made his T20I debut in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand and took two wickets in three games at an average of 23 and an economy rate of 5.75.
However, he wasn’t used at all in the three-match T20I series against Ireland and hasn’t been picked for the first two T20Is in the ongoing four-match series against England.
Considering Pakistan’s first-choice spinner Shadab Khan went wicketless and conceded 55 runs off his four overs in the second T20I against England, Shehzad feels it might be time to switch things up and give Abrar a go.
“The bowlers have looked flat to me and maybe we should consider including Abrar Ahmed in the line-up,” he told Geo News.
Following the England series, Pakistan will be in action in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will take place in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
