Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt said he wants to see big-hitter Mohammad Haris return to the national team, but conceded that the 23-year-old needs to make some big improvements first.
Haris was part of Pakistan’s ODI and T20I squads in the past, but lost his place after failing to perform consistently.
Salman has now urged the Peshawar native to “show more presence of mind” and “only what is necessary” when batting so that he doesn’t throw his wicket away.
“I’m sure, with his talent, everyone wants him to play, including me. But he needs to show more presence of mind, show more practicality while batting and in simple terms only do what is necessary,” he said on YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan recently played a five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which finished as a 2-2 draw.
Afterwards, they took on Ireland in a three-match T20I series and won 2-1.
The men in green are now taking on England in a four-match T20I series, which is tied at 0-0 after the first game was washed out.
Following this, Pakistan will be in action in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will take place in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
