Pakistan all-rounder Jahandad Khan has revealed that he regularly undergoes special power-hitting training to perfect that aspect of his game and hit more sixes.

He noted that these sessions have helped him significantly and was one of the reasons why he was able to shine in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In PSL 9, Jahandad accumulated 88 runs in nine matches for the Lahore Qalandars at an average of 22 and a strike-rate of 187.23.

He also claimed five wickets at an average of 45.20 and an economy rate of 9.82.

“I regularly undergo special sessions of power-hitting because practice makes your power-hitting perfect. Power-hitting practice will enhance the skills of hitting sixes and ultimately it helped me a lot during PSL,” the 20-year-old from Rawalpindi told Geo News.

Jahandad also spoke about the importance of playing first-class cricket, pointing out that bowling long spells helps “make T20 cricket easier”.

“I have played 5 first-class matches taking 21 wickets where I have bowled around 140 overs. Long spells in red-ball cricket help make T20 cricket easier for you,” he said.

The talented youngster wasn’t picked for Pakistan’s recent five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which ended as a 2-2 draw.

Following that, the men in green beat Ireland 2-1 in a three-match T20I series.

Next up for Pakistan will be four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.

They will then feature in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will be held in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.

Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
