Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt said Azam Khan, Saim Ayub and Iftikhar Ahmed are “all explosive players.”
All three are currently in the T20I team, but Azam and Ayub have yet to show any proper consistency.
As for Iftikhar, he is a powerful batsman who floats between the middle and lower order, and has proven to be a useful asset when it comes to scoring quick runs.
Ultimately, all three play important roles as Ayub’s task as an opener is to get the men in green off to fast starts.
Azam and Iftikhar, meanwhile, will aim to bring some much-needed stability to the middle order, which has been a major area of concern for Pakistan for quite some time.
Salman sees the merit of picking all three of them and hopes they can showcase their firepower in the team’s upcoming matches.
“Azam Khan, Saim Ayub and Iftikhar Ahmed are all explosive players,” he said on YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
The Pakistan team recently played a five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which ended as a 2-2 draw.
They then faced Ireland in a three-match T20I series, which they won 2-1.
Pakistan’s next assignment will see them play four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
Following this, they will participate in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will be held in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
