Mohamad Yousuf: “Usman Khan, you can see his intent… since he is playing, his intent is fantastic. Usually, players, after failing in the first two matches, try to score for themselves. But in the case of Usman Khan, you can see he is trying to score for the team”

Legendary Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf loves the fantastic intent being shown by new batting sensation Usman Khan and praised his team-first mentality too.
Usman switched allegiance from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Pakistan after starring in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he finished as the second-highest run-scorer with 430 runs in seven matches for the Multan Sultans, which included two centuries and two fifties, at an average of 107.50 and a strike-rate of 164.12.
Following PSL 9, the 29-year-old was called up to the Pakistan team and he made his international debut in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, where he made 59 runs in five games at an average of 14.75 and a strike-rate of 122.91.
Even though he failed to impress in his debut series, Yousuf lauded Usman for “trying to score for the team” instead of himself.
“Usman Khan, you can see his intent… since he is playing, his intent is fantastic. Usually, players, after failing in the first two matches, try to score for themselves. But in the case of Usman Khan, you can see he is trying to score for the team,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Usman didn’t feature in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Ireland, which the men in green won 2-1.
Next up for Pakistan will be four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
After this, they will be involved in the T20 World Cup, which will take place in the West Indies and United States of America from June 1 to 29.
Pakistan’s first T20 World Cup game will be against the United States of America in Dallas on June 6.
