Former Pakistan head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq admitted that spin-bowling all-rounder Imad Wasim fell short of expectations with the bat in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Imad moved to Islamabad United from the Karachi Kings prior to the start of PSL 9.

He was expected to have a major impact with both the bat and ball, but didn’t quite got the job done when at the crease.

In the 12 games he played, the 35-year-old picked up 12wickets at an average of 20.91 and an economy rate of 6.60.

He also mustered 126 runs, which included a top score of 59 not out, at an average of 21 and a strike-rate of 128.57.

“Imad performs with the bat and that is somewhat missing,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

After the conclusion of PSL 9, Imad reversed his decision to retire from international cricket and made his comeback in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, where he claimed one wicket in two games at an average of 37 and an economy rate of 7.40.

He followed that up with two wickets in three T20Is against Ireland at an average of 36 and an economy rate of 7.20.

Pakistan’s next assignment will see them play four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
