Pakistan left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi has called 150 kph speedster Haris Rauf the team’s “main bowler in the middle overs.”

He noted that Rauf has scorching pace, which allows him to provide pivotal breakthroughs after the powerplay, which is key to winning games in limited overs cricket.

The 30-year-old has been out of action since February after he dislocated his shoulder while playing for the Lahore Qalandars in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).

“He is Pakistan’s main bowler in the middle overs and has 90 T20I wickets – he is Pakistan’s main bowler in white-ball cricket who can strike in the middle overs and he has pace,” Afridi was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

After missing the five-match T20I series against New Zealand in April 2024, Rauf was included in the squad for the three-match T20I series against Ireland but didn’t feature in any of the games.

With Pakistan now scheduled to play four T20Is against England from May 22 to 30, it is likely that Rauf will make his long-awaited comeback in the series.
