Former Pakistan batting coach Adam Hollioake said he expects wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan to deliver big performances in the future.
Azam has failed to impress in his international career so far, amassing 29 runs in nine T20Is at an average of 4.14 and a strike-rate of 85.29.
In the five-match T20I series against New Zealand in January 2024, he could only muster scores of 10, 2 and 10 in the three games he played.
Knowing the 25-year-old hasn’t met expectations, Hollioake hopes he turns his fortunes around by putting up big scores.
“Expect him to shine in the future,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam missed Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand in April 2024 after suffering a grade one tear in his right calf muscle.
He returned to action in the ongoing three-match T20I series against Ireland and made a duck in the first game, which Pakistan lost by five wickets.
After facing Ireland, the men in green will play four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
