Renowned Pakistan six-hitter Iftikhar Ahmed acknowledged that his role in any team is to be the finisher.

Playing that particular role is extremely tough, especially when the required run rate is extremely high, but Iftikhar noted he is constantly working on it and looking to become better.

The 33-year-old recently represented the Multan Sultans in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and played a key role in their run to the final as he made 259 runs in 12 matches, which included a top score of 60 not out, at an average of 64.75 and a strike-rate of 193.28.

“My role is to finish games and I am consistently working on it,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion.

Iftikhar has become a regular face in Pakistan’s T20I team and is expected to keep hold of his spot in the lead-up to the 2024 T20 World Cup in June.

He just finished playing in Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand and accumulated 31 runs in five games at an average of 15.50 and a strike-rate of 100.

The series concluded as a 2-2 draw.
