Peshawar Zalmi head coach Daren Sammy said was good to see Babar Azam, who is the franchise’s captain, continuously scoring runs in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Azam finished as the highest run-scorer in PSL 9 with 569 runs in 11 matches, which included a century and five fifties, at an average of 56.90 and a strike-rate of 142.60.
Coming into the tournament, the 29-year-old was under a lot of pressure as he was struggling to score runs consistently for Pakistan.
In addition to this, he regularly failed to make the most of his strong starts.
All this changed in PSL 9 and Sammy is ecstatic to see the Pakistan limited overs captain doing his job.
“It’s good Babar continues to do what he has been doing,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Azam recently captained Pakistan in their five-match T20I series against New Zealand and struck 125 runs in five games, which included a top score of 69, at an average of 31.25 and a strike-rate of 138.88.
The men in green’s next assignment will be a three-match T20I series against Ireland from May 10 to 14.
After that, they will play four T20Is against England from May 22 to May 30.
