Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has demanded answers from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after questioning why they removed Mohammad Hafeez as team director and interim head coach while retaining Wahab Riaz as a selector.
Inzamam noted that both of them were given their respect roles at the same time and thus found it unusual that Wahab escaped any punishment after Pakistan’s disappointing performance during their tours of Australia and New Zealand.
The men in green were whitewashed 3-0 in their Test series against Australia and then proceeded to lose 4-1 in their T20I series against New Zealand.
“Can someone explain the reasoning behind removing Mohammad Hafeez as team director but retaining Wahab Riaz as chief selector after the Australian and New Zealand tours?” Inzamam was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Many of the Pakistan players involved in the Australia and New Zealand series recently participated in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which was won by Islamabad United.
The men in green are now playing a five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which is tied 1-1 ahead of the fourth T20I on April 25 in Lahore.
