Pakistan big-hitting batsman Azam Khan said he always looks to attack the opposition team’s best bowler as it puts a lot of pressure on them.
Azam is renowned for his power-hitting skills and can score quick runs, which he has showcased on numerous occasions in domestic cricket and different T20 leagues around the world.
While it is tough to take on the opponent’s top bowler, the 25-year-old relishes the challenge as it puts his skills to the test.
“I try to attack the best bowler of the opposing team. If I can attack the main bowler, others come under pressure,” he told Geo News.
Most recently, Azam was in action for Islamabad United, who won the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
He played a key role in their triumphant campaign, amassing 226 runs in 12 matches, which included a top score of 75, at an average of 25.11 and a strike-rate of 171.21.
Azam was set to feature in Pakistan’s ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand, but was ruled out of the series after being diagnosed with a grade one tear in his right calf muscle.
The series is currently tied 1-1 going into the fourth T20I, which will be played on April 25 in Lahore.
