Legendary Pakistan big-hitter Shahid Afridi believes “there is still cricket” left in left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir after he made his international comeback.

His remarks come after Amir made himself available for the men in green after reversing his decision to retire from international cricket.

Afridi knows the 32-year-old from Gujar Khan can have a major impact for the national team and is thus eager to see him return.

“There is still cricket left in Amir and he should play for Pakistan,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Amir was recently in action for the Quetta Gladiators in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and claimed 10 wickets in nine matches at an average of 28.60 and an economy rate of 8.41.

The Gladiators managed to book their spot in the playoffs, but were eliminated after losing to eventual champions Islamabad United in Eliminator 1.

Amir is now part of Pakistan’s squad for their ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand and finished with figures of 2-13 off three overs in the second T20I, which the men in green won by seven wickets.

Pakistan are 1-0 up in the series going into the third T20I, which will be held on April 21 in Rawalpindi.
