Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza has urged people to “keep an eye out for” Pakistan left-arm spinner Mehran Mumtaz as he has been bowling really well.
Mumtaz recently played for the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and made the most of the opportunities given to him.
The 20-year-old from Rawalpindi represented the Zalmi in five matches and took five wickets at an average of 25.20 and an economy rate of 6.63.
“[Mehran] Mumtaz, the left-arm spinner, he came to Zimbabwe with Pakistan A. He didn’t start the tournament but when he got his opportunity, he has bowled really well. So, he’s one of the guys that you can keep an eye out for,” Raza told PakPassion.
Raza was part of the Lahore Qalandars’ squad in PSL 9 and made 91 runs in eight games at an average of 15.16 and a strike-rate of 133.82.
He also snapped up three wickets at an average of 50.33 and an economy rate of 8.38.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which will be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore from April 18 to 27.
