Veteran Pakistan speedster Sohail Khan believes attacking opening batsman Saim Ayub “is an upcoming talent.”

Ayub has shown plenty of potential at the domestic level, but has yet to replicate that success in international cricket.

Nonetheless, the 21-year-old was once again a force to be reckoned with in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he played for the Peshawar Zalmi.

In 11 matches, he scored 345 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 31.36 and a strike-rate of 157.53.

“Saim is an upcoming talent for Pakistan,” Sohail was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Sohail, 40, also featured in PSL 9 and took one wicket in three matches for the Quetta Gladiators at an average of 109 and an economy rate of 9.08.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which will be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore from April 18 to 27.
