Iconic Pakistan power-hitter Shahid Afridi believes Mohammad Amir is just as good as the first-choice pace trio of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf.

Amir announced his retirement from international cricket in December 2020, but recently announced that he would be reversing that decision to play for Pakistan again.

Considering how good the 31-year-old is and the wealth of experience he possesses, Shahid put him in the same category as Pakistan’s elite fast bowlers.

“He falls in the category of Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, and Shaheen Afridi,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Amir recently represented the Quetta Gladiators in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and picked up 10 wickets in nine matches at an average of 28.60 and an economy rate of 8.41.

The Gladiators qualified for the playoffs, but had their campaign ended after losing to eventual champions Islamabad United in Eliminator 1.
