Rilee Rossouw: “If he wants to go back and play international cricket, I am pretty sure he can make it to Pakistan side again”

South Africa batsman Rilee Rossouw doesn’t see any reason why left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir cannot get back into the Pakistan team.

Amir retired from international cricket in December 2020, but he recently reversed that decision in the hopes of representing his country at the 2024 T20 World Cup in June.

Having played alongside the 31-year-old while captaining the Quetta Gladiators in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), Rossouw reiterated that the Gujar Khan native is more than capable of winning back a spot for himself in the national team.

“If he wants to go back and play international cricket, I am pretty sure he can make it to Pakistan side again,” he told Cricket Pakistan.

In PSL 9, Amir took 10 wickets in nine matches at an average of 28.60 and an economy rate of 8.41.

Rossouw, meanwhile, scored 148 runs in 10 games at an average of 16.44 and a strike-rate of 107.24.

The Gladiators managed to make it to the playoffs, but saw their campaign come to an end when they lost to Islamabad United in Eliminator 1.
