Pakistan opening batsman Saim Ayub has issued a challenge to Babar Azam, saying he wants them to bat all 20 overs of a T20 match.
Ayub and Azam open the batting for the Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and have had a lot of strong partnerships.
Batting the entirety of an innings is no easy feat, but the 21-year-old is confident that he and Azam have the talent required to accomplish it.
“I want both of us to bat all 20 overs, and this is my wish,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Ayub recently represented the Zalmi in the 2024 PSL and had a strong campaign as he scored 345 runs in 11 matches, which included two half-centuries, at an average of 31.36 and a strike-rate of 157.53.
Azam, meanwhile, captained the team and finished as the highest run-scorer in PSL 9 with 569 runs in 11 games, which included a century and five fifties, at an average of 56.90 and a strike-rate of 142.60.
The Zalmi made it through to the playoffs, but failed to reach the final after losing to the Multan Sultans in the Qualifier and eventual champions Islamabad United in Eliminator 2.
