Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has questioned why the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) haven’t held chief selector Wahab Riaz responsible for the national team’s poor results as of late.
He noted that team director and interim head coach Mohammad Hafeez was removed, but Wahab has managed to hold on to his job.
In Inzamam’s eyes, something doesn’t feel right, especially considering the Pakistan team lost 3-0 in their Test series against Australia and 4-1 in a T20I series against New Zealand.
“Weren’t both appointed at [the] same time and given [the] same responsibilities so why has only Hafeez been held accountable and not Wahab Riaz?” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Following the tours of Australia and New Zealand, many of Pakistan players were involved in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which was won by Islamabad United.
