Mohammad Hafeez said Pakistan spin-bowling all-rounder Imad Wasim's confidence has gone

Mohammad Hafeez: “He used to get involved in a lot of discussions, his body language was quite attacking, he used to try to take charge of the ball himself. Now, since he has changed his franchise, he is having trouble adjusting”

Former Pakistan team director and interim head coach Mohammad Hafeez feels that spin-bowling all-rounder Imad Wasim has lost his confidence.

Hafeez noted that this has been prevalent during the ongoing 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where Imad has been representing Islamabad United.

Imad had previously captained the Karachi Kings before making the switch to Islamabad prior to the start of PSL 9.

Hafeez pointed out that in the current PSL campaign, the 35-year-old has lacked character and hasn’t seemed to be very involved in discussions and decisions.

“Imad Wasim’s character, right from the start that we saw him in domestic cricket, then when he played for Pakistan, and then when he stayed with Karachi Kings, the current Imad Wasim that we see, we have never seen before,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

“He used to get involved in a lot of discussions, his body language was quite attacking, he used to try to take charge of the ball himself. Now, since he has changed his franchise, he is having trouble adjusting. But up until now, Imad Wasim’s body language as a player doesn’t seem confident.”

In PSL 9, Imad has taken four wickets in nine matches at an average of 48.25 and an economy rate of 7.42.

He has also scored 44 runs at an average of 8.80 and a strike-rate of 115.78.

Despite his struggles, Islamabad managed to book their spot in the playoffs and will face the Quetta Gladiators in Eliminator 1 on March 15.
