Sarfaraz Ahmed, the Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman, has made it clear that he doesn’t want to be classed as a one-format specialist.

Sarfaraz regained his spot in the Test team following his impressive performance against New Zealand from December 2022 to January 2023, where he amassed 335 runs in two matches, which included a century and three fifties, at an average of 83.75.

He has since gone on to represent Pakistan in their two-Test series against Sri Lanka and three-match series against Australia.

While he has successfully managed to make his Test return, the former Pakistan captain insisted that he is keeping himself prepared for ODIs and T20Is. But, his last matches in both formats came in April 2021 and November 2021 respectively.

“As a professional cricketer, I believe in being prepared to play in any format, my constant endeavour is to maintain my fitness and form, ensuring that I am ready to seize any opportunity that comes my way, irrespective of the format,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Sarfaraz is now playing for the Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), but has failed to have much of an impact as he has mustered 22 runs in six matches at an average of 5.50 and a strike-rate of 75.86.

Quetta Gladiators Squad for PSL 9: Rilee Rossouw (captain), Sarfaraz Ahmed, Sherfane Rutherford, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Wasim, Jason Roy, Wanindu Hasaranga, Mohammad Hasnain, Abrar Ahmed, Will Smeed, Saud Shakeel, Sajjad Ali, Usman Qadir, Omair Bin Yousuf, Adil Naz, Khawaja Nafay, Akeal Hosein, Sohail Khan, Laurie Evans, Bismillah Khan
