Former Australia fast bowler Geoff Lawson believes Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has become a dependable run-scorer.

Rizwan is second behind captain Babar Azam when it comes to scoring runs consistently as he has been establishing his reputation as a sturdy middle order batsman over the past couple of years.

Even in the last few series, the 31-year-old from Peshawar has rescued the men in green with timely knocks that pulled them out of precarious positions.

“Mohammad Rizwan is also very capable,” Lawson told Geo News.

In Pakistan’s three-match Test series against Australia, Rizwan made 193 runs in two games, which included a top score of 88, at an average of 48.25.

He then proceeded to amass 184 runs in five T20Is against New Zealand, which included a top score of 90 not out, at an average of 46 and a strike-rate of 131.42.

Currently, he is captaining the Multan Sultans in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has made 297 runs in nine matches, which includes three fifties, at an average of 33 and a strike-rate of 124.26.

Multan Sultans Squad for PSL 9: Mohammad Rizwan (captain), Iftikhar Ahmed, David Willey, Khushdil Shah, Usama Mir, Dawid Malan, Abbas Afridi, Reeza Hendricks, Tayyab Tahir, Shahnawaz Dahani, Usman Khan, Mohammad Ali, Faisal Akram, Yasir Khan, Chris Jordan, Aftab Ibrahim, Johnson Charles, Mohammad Shehzad
