Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja said batsman Babar Azam appears to be nervous at the crease and must work on a few things to elevate his game.
Ramiz pointed out that the 29-year-old must rectify issues with his batting technique and footwork, and spend more time at the crease in order to boost his confidence.
Azam’s form has been a real concern for the men in green as he hasn’t been able to score runs consistently.
During the three-Test series against Australia, the Lahore-born batsman was restricted to 126 runs at an average of 21.
Following that, he amassed 213 runs, which included three fifties, at an average of 42.60 and a strike-rate of 142 in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
“He has to get out of this, he gets nervous. I think he has to work on his footwork, technique and should look to spend some time on the crease,” Ramiz told Cricwick.
Azam is now captaining the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has made 330 runs in six matches, which includes a century and two fifties, at an average of 66 and a strike-rate of 150.68.
