Friendship tag got removed, Shadab Khan had no choice but to let Pakistan player go

Shadab Khan said he had to remove the friendship tag between him and Pakistan pace bowler Hasan Ali when letting him go from Islamabad United to the Karachi Kings for PSL 9

Shadab Khan: “Hasan has gone to a new franchise with Shan Masood. With Islamabad, Karachi suits him too as a franchise given the nature he has. It was a tough decision, but we couldn’t do anything about it, so we let him go”

Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan said he had no choice but to let Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali go ahead of the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Hasan was traded to the Karachi Kings in exchange for spin-bowling all-rounder Imad Wasim.

Shadab noted that while he and Hasan have a very good relationship, he had to remove the friendship tag when making the hard decision to let the 29-year-old move on.

“We got stuck category wise because five players in our diamond category were such that we didn’t want them to go anywhere. But someone had to go, so I think even the ‘friendship’ tag, which is an extra burden and a tag in our culture, has been removed,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

“Hasan has gone to a new franchise with Shan Masood. With Islamabad, Karachi suits him too as a franchise given the nature he has. It was a tough decision, but we couldn’t do anything about it, so we let him go.”

Since joining the Kings, Hasan has taken eight wickets in five matches at an average of 22.25 and an economy rate of 9.20.

As for Shadab, he has claimed six wickets in five games at an average of 21.50 and an economy rate of 6.78.
