Azhar Ali: “My favourite player, my childhood hero”

Azhar Ali, the former Pakistan batsman, named legendary captain Inzamam-ul-Haq as his “favourite player” and “childhood hero.”
Like Azhar, Inzamam was also an exceptional batsman, scoring 8,830 runs in 120 Tests, which included 25 centuries and 46 fifties, at an average of 49.60.
He also accumulated 11,739 runs in 378 ODIs, which included 10 hundreds and 83 half-centuries, at an average of 39.52.
As for his T20I career, the 53-year-old from Multan only featured in one match and made 11 not out.
“My favourite player, my childhood hero,” Azhar said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan recently lost 3-0 in their Test series against Australia before suffering a 4-1 loss at the hands of New Zealand in a five-match T20I series.
Many of the national players are now involved in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which got underway on February 17.
